Issued in 1929 to mark the meeting of th Universal Postage Union in London on May 10 1929. It was the second commemoretive stamp to be released after the British Empire Exhibition stamps of 1924/25. It features an intricate design of Saint George and the Dragon and a portrait of King George V. The selection committee recommended the designs which were, unusually, approved by HM Queen Mary due to the King being ill at the time. Only 68 000 stamps were printed, it does have a very hight survival rate and is not a rare stamp.

The 5 pound postage stamp was issued in 1882 to cover the cost of sending legthy telegrams after it was decided that all telegrams fees should be paid in with postage stamps. This stamp is a stamp that wasn't actually needed for postal purposes. The designe of the stamp is similar to the one issued in 1877, the plate was adapted by removing the word "TELEGRAPHS" and printing the word "POSTAGE", as two stage printing, POSTAGE can often be out of alignement and in a different shade of orange. The usage of the stamp lasted for over 20 years.

Le Penny rouge, émis le 10 février 1841 pour remplacer le Penny Black, utilisait pour un peu prés 38 ans au Grande-Bretagne. Le désigne était le même que le Penny black représentant la reine Victoria, seul la couleur était changé du noir au rouge, les même plaques utilisés pour imprimer le Penny Black seront utilisés pour le Penny rouge.

Le changement du couleur du timbre était la solution pour éviter la réutilisation des timbres. La marque d'oblitération postale qui permet d'annuler la validité du timbre est beaucoup mieux visible sur la couleur rouge, et ne peut être effacé sans abimé le timbre. La dentelure du timbre n'est introduite qu'en 24 février 1854.

The Penny Red stamp issued on February 10, 1841 to replace the Penny Black. It was the longest running stamp in Great Britain, from the day were issued to 3 December 1879. The designe of the stamp was the same as the previous stamp the Penny Black depicting the queen Victoria, with the colour being changed from black to red. some of the same plates that were used to print the Penny Black were used to print the Penny Red. In the long life of the stamp some minor changes in the designe were introduced.

The colour red odf the stamp was used to make the cancellation marks more visible and hard to washe out preventing the reus of old stamps. Until the 24 th February 1854 the stamp was imperforate.

Les premiers timbres émises par l'Angleterre en dehors de la Grande Bretagne sont les timbres Mauritius "Post Office" avec deux dénominations le un penny rouge Mauritius et le "deux pance bleu Mauritius". Émises par le gouvernement colonial d'Angleterre le 21 septembre 1847. Le désigne est grossièrement copié du premier désigne utilisé par l'Angleterre pour les premiers timbres émises "le un penny noir et le un penny rouge". Le timbre représente le profil de la reine Victoria.

Les mots "Post Office" imprimés sur la marge gauche sont remplacés par les mots "Post Paid". La rumeur qui disait que le designeur "Joseph Osmond Barnard" a commis une erreur en imprimant les mots "Post Office" à la place de "Post Paid" n'est qu'une rumeur ni plus ni moins.
Le un penny rouge Mauritius est connu parmi les philatélistes pat la pièce de résistance, très nécessaire pour compléter le collection d'un philatéliste passionné.

The first British stamps issued outside of Great Britain were the so-called Mauritius "Post Office" stamps, the red Mauritius one penny and the blue Mauritius two pence. Issued by the British colonnial goverment on September 21, 1847. The stamps' designe is crudely designed and copied from the "original" one penny red stamp, depicting the Queen Victoria.

The words "Post Office" appearing in the left panel were replaced later in the folowing issues by the words "Post Paid". The legend that said the designer "Joseph Osmond Barnard" made an error by ingraving the words "Post Office" instead of  "Post Paid" is nothing more than a false legend.

As part of the primitive collection "with designe copied from an original and printed outside of Europe", the Mauritius "Post Office" stamps have a unique charme among the stamp collectors.

The penny black was the world's first postage stamp. Issued on 1 May 1840, for official use from 6 may the same year, featuring a profile of queen Victoria the penny black lasted less than a year, replaced by the penny red in February 1841.
