Le Jenny renversé / The inverted Jenny

A United States postage stamp first issued on May 10 1918 in which the image of the Curtiss JN-4 aireplane in the center of the design appears upside-down, it is the most famous error in American philately. Only one pane of 100 of the invert stamps was ever found.
In May 15, 1918 the US Post Office decided to inaugurate regular service of carring mail by air, the rate was 25 cents for the service, higher than the 3 cents for first-class mail of the time.
A block of four inverted Jennys was sold at a Robert A.Siegel auction in October 2005 for 2.7 US dollers.

En 1918 aux États-Unis, suite aux essais de transport aérien du courrier menaient depuis 1910, l'US post office émis le 24 cents rouge et bleu. c'est le premier timbre de poste aérienne. Au cours de l'impression des feuilles mal positionnées l'avion fut représenté à l'envers, ainsi le Jenny renversé est devenu un des plus célèbres timbres des États-Unis. Le tarif de l'expédition par avion est fixé à 24 cents contre 3 cents habituellement.
En octobre 2005, un bloc de quatre Inverted Jenny est cédé à un acheteur anonyme pour 2 970 000 dollars. Le plus haut prix versé pour un seul Inverted Jenny atteint un million de dollars en 2007.
